Michael Eggins Coffee is Back!
Exciting news - my coffee roastery is officially back in operation! After a long pause, MICHAEL EGGINS Coffee is up and running again, and I couldn’t be happier.
A bit of context: when I rebuilt my house and later moved, I had to take apart my coffee roasting setup. Life got busy, and consistent roasting fell by the wayside. But after some time figuring out the best way to set up my space, I’m finally back at it.
Coffee has been a passion of mine since the mid to late 2000s. In 2010, I took the plunge and bought a light commercial roaster, capable of 5kg batches. I honed my process, began selling online, and gradually built a loyal customer base. In 2013, I had the thrill of winning both gold and silver medals for my roasting at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Festival. That recognition validated the care and precision I put into every roast and remains one of my proudest achievements.
For a while, I also ran a small coffee van on weekends, serving my local athletics club. Making coffee for people, chatting with them, and being part of a friendly community was an incredibly rewarding experience. It wasn’t just about coffee, it was about connecting with people and being part of their day.
Of course, life moved on. I sold the coffee van, rebuilt my house, and the roastery went silent. But stepping back made me realise how much I missed it, the rhythm of roasting, adjusting the machine, coaxing the best out of each batch of beans. There’s a genuine art to roasting that goes beyond just heating beans; it’s about refinement, patience, and the satisfaction of creating something excellent.
I also missed the human connection, the joy of meeting people, delivering coffee, and seeing their appreciation. There’s something special about sharing a product you’ve crafted yourself with others and enjoying the feedback and interaction that comes with it.
So here I am, back in my element. The roastery is operational again, and while it’ll take a little time to get products ready for online distribution, progress is being made. It feels fantastic to revive a passion that combines craft, creativity, and community. Michael Eggins Coffee is back and I can’t wait to share the journey with you!
