My 100 Day Challenge

After running two marathons, I was left with a nagging feeling—like I had more in the tank. I didn’t hit the times I wanted, and to be honest, it stung. That disappointment didn’t fade away quietly either—it stayed with me, and over time it started to burn. But sometimes that burn is exactly what you need. It was enough to push me to make a change and do something different, because if I wanted a different result, I knew I had to take a different approach.

Looking ahead, I saw that I had roughly 100 days until my next marathon—the Sunshine Coast Marathon. That’s my next shot. And this time, I’ve set myself a clear goal: I’m going to run a faster marathon. It’s not just a vague intention; it’s a focused challenge. 100 days to become a better runner, and hopefully, a better version of myself along the way.

This idea of setting a goal—really setting it properly—came from a mentor I had early in my career. They taught me a few key things: be specific, make it measurable, give it a timeline. But most importantly, tell people. Sharing your goal makes it real. It makes you accountable. Because let’s be honest—no one wants to be the person who talks big about their dreams and then quietly gives up on them.

So here it is: I’m sharing this goal with you.

Over the next 100 days, I’ll be training hard, and I’ll be documenting the process on Instagram. Not just to track my progress, but to create some transparency, and maybe even a bit of pressure—the good kind. I want people to see the journey, not just the finish line. And by putting it out there, I’m giving myself fewer places to hide when motivation runs low.

Hopefully, this helps me become better at creating content, sure—but more than that, I hope it helps me stay locked in on this goal. And maybe, along the way, it inspires someone else to chase down something they’ve been putting off.

So here we go: 100 days. One goal. A faster marathon time on the Sunshine Coast. I’ll keep you posted.

Michael
